Piemājas saimniecība “Blāzmas”

In 2012 Guntis and Simona Zanders started farming on grandfather's property, Piegravas. The place was tidied up and turned into a small, eco-friendly farm that grows and processes agricultural produce. The farm's signature is the Latvian-bred early potato variety MUTAGĒNAGRAIS. The farm's story began with these potatoes. We are proud that our ideas live on and that we have managed to grow as a small producing farm. People recognise us and our work is appreciated. In 2021, in the "Product Quality Competition" organised by Novada garša, our "Zucchini in turmeric marinade" won a gold medal, while "Green ketchup with basil" and "Chilli jelly" received bronze awards. We use integrated growing of agricultural produce. Plants grown after the main crops are harvested are used to improve the soil. Green manure, supplemented with mineral fertilisers, is used to increase soil fertility. Crops are protected from pests and diseases with preventive measures and biological protection products. No pesticides are used. Weed control relies on the crops' ability to suppress weeds and on mechanical methods. The special value of our products is that they are grown in a clean environment using nature-friendly methods. They are safe to eat for everyone, from infants to the elderly. They are exclusively grown in Latvia. Customers buy our products from us at the farm, at Kuldīga Market and at the cooperative LPKS "Kuldīgas labumi".
